After 6 months in the making, we are excited to finally bring this bike lane project to life. This project was funded through the Tempe neighborhood grant project and was a part of Tempe's Adaptive Streets initiative to help bring safer streets to pedestrians and cyclists. Designed by Nicole Poppell (NNUZZO), she worked with the Holdeman Neighborhood Association (shout to Jack Ketchem who led the initiative) to create designs that are vibrant, nature-focused, and unique to the community.
For these bike lane designs, Nicole sketched plants around her yard and translated them into flat patterns using color interaction that interweaves geometric shapes. With 50 volunteers signed up to help paint throughout the 2 week process, this was truly a joint effort.
